Abstract

Euthanasia, which is an internationally well discussed issue on different social-political groups, unfortunately has been a latent discussion subject remaining in the agenda of the Turkish population, for years. It is aimed in this study to determine the approach and expectation of physicians at Erzurum on the subject of euthanasia. In this cross-sectional study, a questionnaire was applied to 69 physicians working at Erzurum. The data was evaluated using SP SS statistics programme. Out of 69 physicians that replied the questionnaire 55% was male, 63% of physicians declared that theyare against euthanasia practice to be legalised. 68 % of participants said that euthanasia discussion in our country is heneficia!. Instead of using directly the related regulations of other countries, euthanasia should he discussed with every aspect in Turkey, relevant data should he collected, and an appropriate approach should he developed.
